Our Mission

Here at Christian Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church we are focused on God first and growing His Kingdom second. In order to advance His purpose for us, we have built our ministry around the cornerstone principles outlined below. It is our hope that by partnering with us, we will all collectively achieve our goals within the advancement of the Kingdom of God!

Our Vision “Doing Ministries that Matter”
By focusing in on key ministries, we can better align our resources to help us achieve our mission in delivering services with the greatest spiritual impact.

Our Mission
We have been called to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with both our immediate and surrounding communities. Through our weekly services and programs we are able to bring the community together for insightful experiences involving worship, prayer, Bible Study, and fellowship. While gathering together is important, we believe that our responsibility continues on to both develop and prepare believers for spiritual growth and service. We always strive to support the people of our community by meeting their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Our Goals
As the body of Christ, we seek to maximize the growth of the church through increasing our membership. We accomplish this by spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and making new disciples of the faith in the process! We are serious about demonstrating our love for the people of our community. At Christian Chapel there is no hesitation to feed, clothe, and seek out shelter for our brothers and sisters in need. Visiting sick and shut-in members also remains high and of the utmost importance. Even though they are not able to get out much, we want them to feel both included and loved as they strive toward healing.

Our Funding
Currently over 95% of our church activities are funded through donations given to our church from both our membership and members of the community. We are looking to expand our financial footprint by accessing the multitude of funds available through grants. With this funding access we will be able to increase the capacity and efficacy of our ministerial efforts leading to even better community enrichment.

Our Future Ministries
Looking to the near future, we are investing heavily in several key initiatives to better serve our surrounding community. Details on each are provided below.

Hot Meals for the Homeless and Elderly
We are actively renovating our culinary center by increasing the square footage and upgrading all appliances to commercial standards. Our Committee of Food is spearheading this effort to ensure that we can provide world class service to those in need.

Community Soup Kitchen
With the expansion of our culinary center, our Committee of Food will be able to launch new ministries related to the expanded distribution of food in our community. One such new project will be our Community Soup Kitchen that will also include an arm of service to address the sick and shut-in members of our church.

Childcare Programs
The Winnabow area has seen a recent explosion in new residential housing units to the tune of over 5,000! With our church being only one mile from the local elementary and middle schools, we have created a plan to support parents by providing daycare and afterschool programs. Our committee on Christian Education will run point on the day to day operation of these programs. Increased funding will allow us to provide the community with licensed care providers serving ages from newborn to 12 years of age. Utilizing the latest technology is also paramount to the success of these programs. Students will be exposed to enrichment activities that both stimulate their minds and challenge their intellect.
